As the week went on and pictures were uploaded to the WTRC Facebook page of who was winning what, one name kept popping up- Kyler Day. Day's 2020 Wrangler Finals started out in the #10.5 roping with his dad Radley Day. The father- son duo rope together almost every day at home, so they have confidence in one another and that shows in the arena. A er the younger of the Day- Duo roped a leg on their first steer, Day and his dad made a comeback on their next two steers in the second arena. Coming back to the short round 7th high call, a smooth run was made on a stronger steer which landed them third in the average out of 642 teams in that roping. Day's next roping at MetraPark Arena was the #7.5 which was a pick one, draw one. He made it to the short round with Parker Johnson as high call and Tate Poppe as 5th high call. Day knew that he had a good chance to win it, so he tried to remain focused on the task at hand. "Tate spun me a good one and I ended up missing him," said Day. "I knew then that I needed to forget about that steer and catch the next one. A er I missed that steer for Tate, my only game plan was to catch." Day stayed diligent on his plan to catch and caught two feet for his high call partner Johnson which put them 21.39-seconds on three steers. That aggregate me ended up being the fastest out of over 900 teams and they won the #7.5 roping. In addi on, Day and Johnson were also a #6.5 incen ve team and ended up winning that incen ve while Day and his other partner Poppe won third in the #6.5 incen ve. He also has a goat herd at home that he ropes almost every day that has contributed immensely to the success that he has seen over the past year. Besides all of that, and more importantly, Day has a family that supports him 110% no ma er what. "My mom and dad let me rope all I want, and my uncle Taylor and Papa Bud help me with my heeling. I head a li le too, but I really like to heel." Day's rope horse, Bullets Poker Face "Indy", is a product of his families remarkable breeding program and she has been a solid all-around mount for him the past few years. A Good Day for Kyler Day A Good Day for Kyler Day "What I like most about Indy is that she puts me in a good spot to catch every me.
