The popular "Intro To Ranch Horse" clinic was filled in a nanosecond and featured the rota ng format between two clinicians, Tye MacDonald and Jess Holloway. The clinic covered dry work (aka reining pa ern) and cow work. Sunday was the first Ranch Horse Compe on of the 2021 series and included the debut of Ranch Riding to the Ranch Horse series. Tye MacDonald was the judge for the weekend. The series is ideal for enjoying one of the best benefits of horse showing. Fun! Classes suitable for all ages and skill sets of both horse and rider are offered and there are four Stallion Stakes classes which e directly into the Stallion Service Auc on each year. If you'd like to join in the fun, even if you've missed the first show, you can s ll ride for Year End High Point awards. The Year End awards are pre y impressive, too! Well worth chasing. Not to men on ge ng the chance to meet new people and make new friends. The RMBA is the right environment. If you'd like to know more about her stallion, Waspy Leo, you can reach her at (406) 290-7302 or email to tmhokens@outlook.com Congratula ons, Tristram! Read on for more informa on. Tristram Hokenson was born and raised around horses in Michigan. Her grandfather, Michael Hokenson, used to raise and show Saddlebreds. Grandpa Mike passed away from a heart a ack at the young age of 49, when Tristram was only 7. While her memories of him are limited, she always knew she wanted to dedicate her ranch to him. Grandpa Mike called his small opera on Rocking H Saddlebreds. This year she was able to do that. Tristram bought her first property which boasts endless possibili es. Rocking H Ranch is located outside of Bu e, Montana, si ng on 40 acres. Currently, she has a couple pastures and stalls available for overnight boarding and for outside breeding mares. Eventually, she plans to expand her pastures and add addi onal equine friendly ameni es. Her goal is to raise quality, correct, aesthe c, all around Quarter Horses. Tristram's first encounter with the Quarter Horse was in 1996, at 8 years old, when she borrowed her grandmother's friend's horses to go to horse shows. She hasn't looked back since. Over the years she has owned and worked with a number of Quarter Horses, along with various other breeds. In 2018, she was honored with the opportunity to work for a very reputable Quarter Horse breeder. That knowledge and experience ul mately lead her to the purchase of her first stallion, Waspy Leo, a 2006 silver bay. Waspy Leo gave Tristram her first foal, a 2020 stud colt, now named Jeffie. She is excited to be beginning this journey with Leo and excited to learn from this experience, her peers, and from Leo. Waspy Leo is a 2006 silver bay Quarter Horse. Leo is a carrier of the rare silver gene, a gene that comes with a kind personality and 'user- friendly' disposi on. Leo has strong bones and good feet. He passes his excellent conforma on, brains, personality, and a shot at being a silver carrier to his offspring. Don't forget to mark your calendar for the RMBA's Open Horse Show, too! A full slate of horse show classes from halter and showmanship, western and English, trail and ranch riding. There are some RMBA- specific classes included. Mark July 24, 2021, for this show. It's set for the Galla n River Ranch outside of Manha an, Montana. The class list and entry blank are coming soon so check the website o en.
