The American Rope Horse Futurity wrapped
up its #2 futurity of the year held in conjunc on
with the 2021 Oil Can Classic April 9-11th. The
event took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Tulsa
State Fair Grounds and was hosted by Jack Bogart.
Ropers traveled to Tulsa from across the U.S. and
the top riders of the three-day event took home
over $110,000 in prize money.
Oil Can Classic
In the $3,000 added Open Pre Futurity
presented by stallion Stevie Ray Von it was Trevor
Brazile who stole the show, taking first and
second, respec vely. Brazile scored a combined
total of 686.6 to win the class by over 12 points
on his horse Relentless Big Shot by Metallic Cat
and out of Z Oh Six. Following closely behind with
a 674 was Tuckin Away Buckles by Show Me The
Buckles and out of Tuckers Vintage. The colts
seen in the Pre Futurity will compete at the World
Championship Rope Horse Futurity held in Fort
Worth this fall.
In the Open Heading and Open Heeling the
compe on was stacked, with BoomBoom
Firecracker, owned and shown by Trevor Brazile
taking first place honors in the Open Heading
with a combined total of 925.5. BoomBoom
Firecracker is by Firewaterontherocks and out of
Taras First Note. In the Open Heeling it was Cole
Davison and CR Deeva by Woody B Tuff and out
of Cee Dee Royal Tee fought who took the win. CR
Deeva is owned by Jay McCarley.
In the Non Pro Heading and Heeling 40 horses
were shown in both events. Walker Smith and
Catalena A Man won the Non Pro Heading while
Paul Bogart took top honors in the Non Pro
Heeling aboard Two Eyed Meterman.
