126 The WRANGLER, Annual Breeders Edition • January 5-19, 2022 The History of e Gorre Ranch Wri en by Hope Raley A purchase of one stallion- Hot Foot Bob- is what set the plan in mo on for what would someday be the iconic Gorrell Ranch. Jay and Joann Gorrell purchased the stud in hopes of crossing him on their broodmare band which consisted of mares that came from the Goldsberry Ranch. Jeff Gorrell, son of Jay and Joann, and wife, Kelly, then purchased three studs to add to the growing program: Montana Easy Move, Frenchmans Easy Doc and Sons Sugar O'Doc. From there, running bred mares were purchased with bloodlines ranging from Mr Jess Perry, A Streak Of Fling, Dash Ta Fame and Three Bars. There were also a few mares bought from Jay Murnion's program that went back to Doc O Dynamite as well. The Gorrell's loved the Doc O Dynamite pedigree because they were versa le and you could do anything on them from roping, barrel racing, ranching and cu ng. A er a divorce between Jeff and his wife, Kelly, the impressive herd was separated. Jeff and Kelly's son, Clint, helped Jeff build back his program, breeding outside mares and raising their own herd with the stud they kept- Montana Easy Move. Now today, alongside his dad Jeff, Clint is breeding and raising quality horses with his wife, Kaitlyn, and con nuing what his grandparents started all those years ago. Clint and Kaitlyn currently own five of their own broodmares- two mares by Montana Easy Move out of Dash Ta Fame daughters, one by Montana Easy Move and out of a Mr Jess Perry mare, one PC Frenchmans Hayday by a Lay A Patch Mare from the iconic Po er Ranch, and a A Streak Of Fling mare out of a PC Frenchmans Hayday daughter. The young couple also just partnered with Clint's mother on a stallion and a mare- Blazin Pennys Fame and Pennys Final Fling. The stallion, Blazin Pennys Fame is a 3-year- old by Blazin Jetolena and out of the late Short Penny- who was owned by Kelly Gorrell un l the mare's death in 2018 at the age of 22. The mare, Pennys Final Fling, is a full sister to the late Fame Fling N Bling, who qualified for the NFR 2x. By A Streak Of Fling and out of Short Penny by Dash Ta Fame, the famous ASOF x DTF cross is seen in Pennys Final Fling who had a very successful futurity season in 2021. The Gorrell's have high hopes for the last foal out of Short Penny and he is currently in training with Tera Moody from South Dakota with hopes of futuritying him in 2023. The second stallion that the Gorrell Ranch is proud to offer to mare owners is Easy Streak Ta Vegas. The 5-year-old beau ful roan stallion is by French Streaktovegas and out of Easy Fame Bee by Montana Easy Move. He turned heads in 2021 as a five-year-old futurity horse and showed the talent, good mind, and athle cism that he is sure to pass on to his colts! Both stallions are enrolled in the Homegrown Stallion Incen ve and Easy Streak Ta Vegas is also enrolled in the 5 State Futurity. Both stallions will be enrolled in more local incen ves when their offspring become of age, and also larger incen ves when foals reach the performance age and there are plenty of them on the ground.
