My clothes hardly cost anything at all. I dress cheap but not poor. There's a difference. I used to work with a man who was only on the job because he got bored sitting around home all day. He didn't need the money. Already had plenty. In spite of that, he was always excited to show me the "new" coat he just found at Goodwill or the boots that cost 5 dollars at the thrift shop. Personally, I wouldn't have put my feet into some strangers boots, even if they did cost the same as a frozen burrito. Obviously, this is not the source of my inexpensive duds. This morning when I went outside to set my irrigation water, I had to choose between one of a dozen or more caps hanging by the back door. I chose one from the guys who sold Sue and I a tractor. The others came from the folks who gave us the money to buy the tractor and a whole lot more, two ranches that sold us bulls this spring and a feed company. I was already wearing a shirt with the feed company logo so I didn't choose their cap. I put on a jacket the bank gave me. My gloves had a rope company's name across the back. From the belt up, I hadn't spent a dime. A major jean manufacturer used to give us The WrangleR, Horse and Rodeo News • July 20 - August 4, 2013 free samples at the rodeos. Since my waist size and desire to compete had passed each other going opposite directions a few years back, the Wranglers I was wearing cost actual dollars. That eft my boots and underwear. If the bank would start passing out Fruit of the Looms with their name on them, that would not only help out my clothing costs but also be appropriate. They've been covering that part of my anatomy for years, anyway. I did buy the boots I had on. Thoughts of my friend's $5 used boots have always prompted me to start with new. Overall, I was dressed cheap. Didn't cost me a dime unless you begin adding up what we had spent on those bulls, the tractor and on-going feed bills. When adding everything up, I might be wearing a million dollars worth of clothes. Yep. Clothes do make the man. The way I was dressed, I must have looked like a million dollars!
