We have a number of cowhorse trainers in Montana that are good supporters of our organiza on. Here is the first group I could reach for comment. Steve Bond of Worden starts colts, as well as training rope horses and cowhorses. Bond Ranch hosts a series of prac ce shows, the first one will be Horseman and developing several Supreme Reined Cowhorses in NRCHA compe on. An NRCHA judge, he trains outside horses, coaches youth and non pros, and also teaches clinics. Phone him at 406-323-2255. Travis Young operates Big Sky Performance Horses in Absarokee. He and his clients show regionally, mostly NRCHA. He starts quite a few two-year-olds as well as coaching and hauling non pros. Check out his Facebook page for latest news and sale horses. Campbell Training of Du on (northwest of Great Falls) is Bill and Kelli, long me cowhorse trainers and breeders. Their stallion, Elans Holibar, made the Equistat top 100 producer list in reining/cowhorse earnings. They have coached a couple of genera ons of non pros, and offer training, lessons, and showing. Their phone # is 406- 868-1413. Mike Hoffman is 8 miles north of Belgrade. He trains cu er, reiners, and cowhorses, and also starts colts, so he can find the right job for a horse in his care. His clients appreciate his quiet way with their horses, and his coaching style is calm. He can be reached at 406-580-6429. Jess Kirkpatrick ranches and trains just south of Jackson, at the headwaters of the Big Hole River. Brought up in the bridle horse tradi on, he puts a great founda on on his horses and trains mostly cowhorses. Some go to the show pen and some go to ranch work, and most do both. He's been ac ve in the Central Montana Cowhorse Associa on as manager of the shows at Twin Bridges. Call him at 406-925- 3981. Tye MacDonald trains at Saddle Peak Arena just north of Belgrade. He spent some years training in California and developed an apprecia on of the bridle horse tradi on by showing with some of the big names we've read about. He holds an NRCHA judges card and says that is beneficial for both training and coaching, and helping his clients develop an understanding of what a judge is looking for. He offers coaching, lessons, and showing, as well as training outside horses. He has bison available for cowhorse and cu ng prac ce.
