Letter from the Publisher
By the time this reaches your mailbox the NFR, Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales will be over
and the holiday season is in full swing.
We love our time at the NFR and we are so happy to be able to bring you behind the scenes interviews,
updates and information that others don't. The print news business as well as the stallion business
is tough. There is lots of competition in both areas (print media and stallion breeding market). The
WRANGLER is something special, it has been going for 37 years. It was built by a family (The Moss
family) and continues to be run by a family (The DeLancey family).
It has been a busy year at The WRANGLER and we are so thankful for all our readers, advertisers and
subscribers. We are constantly learning and working on planning for the future. I am also so grateful
for our incredible, small but mighty team!
Raegen DeLancey and KL Collmorgen are the glue that keeps The WRANGLER together. Raegen is
a full-time college student studying Ag communications and graphic design. She is also on a rodeo
scholarship for the University of Wyoming where she competes in breakaway roping, team roping,
and the barrel racing off of our stallIon Fiestas Dynasty. KL is busy selling ads and working on social
media posts out of her home office in TX, as well as riding and raising nice foals. As well as, helping
her husband grow his taxidermy business.
These two ladies are so talented, and they truly have a passion for the futurity industry, the horses,
the riders, the breeders and the stallion owners.
In this issue, we wanted to focus on jackpots and talk to some of the producers to highlight what it
takes to put a jackpot on. In November, the Riata Buckle took place for its second year at the historic
Lazy E arena. The entries were booming! The Riata Buckle is where the jackpots and the futurities
intersect. It is a one of a kind event. Denny Gentry and the crew are so far ahead of the curve in looking
at ways to keep the horse market strong and ways for riders at any level to compete and win big!
As we wind down the clock for 2023 and start planning for 2024, drop us a line. cindy@thewrangler.
com or raegen@thewrangler.com or KL ads@thewrangler.com. We would like to hear what you think
and how we can better serve our readers and the futurity community. We are always looking for quality
people to join our team! Horses AND people are our passion at The WRANGLER. Merry Christmas to
all and Happy New Year. May your days of 2024 be filled with more horses, futurities and big winnings!
Sincerely,
Cindy DeLancey
