Letter from the Publisher
Ah, its FebruAry..... By the time this issue reaches your mailbox, the phones will be ringing with calls to stallion
owners, vets, and reproduction experts for many of our readers.
February is also the month of the Royal Crown in Arizona. This year's Royal Crown Buckeye event will be
paying over over $563,000 not including all the side pot money! The futurity and incentive events are paying life
changing money for the winners of these prestigious events. The producers are working hard to host events at
top notch facilities and pay out big amounts.
As the owner of 4 stallions, I have spent a lot of time learning about the futurities and all the different incentives.
Many of you that know me, know that I am a lawyer with 20 + years of practice experience and I will be the 1st to
admit learning the futurity world and keeping everything correct is complicated and it takes time to learn all the
"rules" as every event is different, and each incentive has their own details. But, it is SO worth it.
Working with the different event producers and incentive owners has been very rewarding. To see the horse
market continue to grow and expand is wonderful. It is something everyone can agree on, and there is not much
these days that anyone can seem to agree on. I enjoy seeing new rider names in the winners circle and new
stallion owner names light up the leaderboard with their young stallions.
The industry is growing thanks to our incentive/event producers who have CHANGED THE GAME!!! The
February issue is devoted to helping our readers get acquainted with the futurities and incentive options for the
multiple disciplines, because incentives are not just about barrel racing anymore.
I really enjoyed working with our editor, Raegen DeLancey, who is a young futurity rider who is learning the
ropes. We hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as we enjoyed putting it together! Drop us a line if you every
have story ideas or things you would like us to cover!
Sincerely,
Cindy DeLancey
