September, 2024 • The WRANGLER • 19 first round of the Royal Crown Futurity and the SVE Open Futurity. The second round Royal Crown Futurity 2D win went to Kyle Leleux and FlyingInTheFastLane, sired by The Goodbye Lane and out of SFW FlyingFirstClass. Hallie Hanssen and Decadent Seis, by Tres Seis and out of PC Decadent Frost, captured the 2D win in round two of the SVE Open Futurity. The amateur futurity side pot 1D win went to Kaily Richardson and Girls Like You, sired by JL Dash Ta Heaven and out of The Last Of The Cash. Tracey Fannin and Get Outta My Lane, by The Goodbye Lane and out of Double Dot Flit, earned the 2D win. The Royal Crown Derby 1D average championship and $18,210 went to Heza Swift Spyder and Jordynn Knight. The eight year old gelding by The Goodbye Lane and out of Coops Glory is owned by Brad and Karly Knight. The duo earned another $5,207 for the SVE Open Derby 1D average championship. Seventeen year old Knight hails from Roosevelt, Utah and will be a senior in high school this fall. She and "Mater" have been a team since trainer Stacy Glause handed over the reins. Coincidentally, Knight won the Royal Crown derby in Arizona this winter aboard another great horse, Dashing French Belle. Knight remarked that it has been easy to get on both horses and win behind such great trainers. Dashing French Belle also had an outstanding showing with trainer Taylor Hildreth before Knight took over as jockey. Knight described her runs with Mater in Wyoming, "In the first round, sometimes he won't turn first the best, but he just sat and came around it. I don't have to worry about the other two barrels, because he always works those. In the second round, I sent him a little harder because he had turned it so well the first round. He probably got a stride past it, but he was running hard and worked his other two so it was okay." The Royal Crown Derby 2D average championship went to Pipers Design, by Slick by Design and out of Bucks for Bullet, with Ryan Reynolds aboard. The SVE Open Derby 2D average championship was captured by Jess Lewis and CM Getaway Driver, sired by CM Nonstop Nitro and out of Dance N Go. The 1D win in round one of the Royal Crown Derby and SVE Open Derby went to VF Wishbone Red, by Designer Red and out of VF She Is Famous, and rider Brynn Hinton. 2D winner Leanne Wolfe was aboard Fame N Fabulous, by Frenchman Fabulous and out of Soon To Be Famous. In round two, the 1D win in the Royal Crown Derby and SVE Open Derby went to Kassie Mowry and Force The Goodbye. The 2D round two champion was Jessica Leach riding VC Roc The Clock, by JL Sirocco and out of Heavens SpecialToast. The round two SVE Open Derby 2D was split by co- champions, Kayla Jones on KG Just As Fabulous (by Frenchmans Fabulous and out of KG Justiceweexpected) and Bailey Alvarez on Bellas Epic Booker (by Epic Leader and out of Brookabella). The Royal Crown slot race took each duo's fastest time from the week. 1D champions, Kassie Mowry and Force the Goodbye took the 1D win with their smoking fast 14.731, the fastest time of the week. Whitney Godinez and DLF Cash Two Annie earned the 2D slot race championship. Scan this QR for full results: Jordynn Knight & Heza Swift Spyder were the 1D Derby Average Champions.
