The roping was held at The Ranch in Loveland, Colorado and took place September 3-5, 2016 and was produced by the USTRC. The first roping of the High Plains Regional Finals was the Open Division. It was a qualifier for The American. Brit Ellerman from Fort Lupton, Colorado teamed up with TJ Watts from Hudson, Colorado to win the qualifier to The American. The pairing won $1750 and received a berth into to The American Semi-Finals. The team of Kellan Johnson from Casper, Wyoming and Cullen Teller from Pierce, Colorado won the Open Division. They received $2218 plus trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers. Second place went to Ellerman and Watts. Mitch Barney from Blair, Nebraska and Butchie Levell from Omaha, Nebraska won the incentive average. The next roping was the #15 Division. Britt Ellerman and Jayden Johnson teamed up to win the Qualifying Round, while second place went to Kellan Johnson and Carson Johnson. In the #15 Shoot Out Round Casey Adams from Ault, Colorado and Paul Freed from Morgan, Utah teamed up to win the average with a time of 32.19 seconds on four steers. The win earned them $4346, trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Philip Schuman from Fort Collins, Colorado and Marcus Banister from Brighton, Colorado. Third went to Levi OKeeffe from Mohall, North Dakota and Kyon Kreutzer from LaVeta, Colorado. In the #13 Division the team of Butchie Levell and Jon Hackel teamed up to win the Qualifying Round. Second was Cati Stanko and Mitch Barney. In the Shoot Out Round Eric Martin from Aurora, Colorado and Kyon Kreutzer were the high team back. They were 8.90 seconds on their final steer and finished the roping in first place with a time of 33.15 seconds on four steers. They won $7660, trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Stanko and Barney with a time of 34.11 seconds on four steers. Third USTRC High Plains Regional Finals place in the roping went to Philip Schuman and Paul Freed. The final roping of the day was the #12 Division. Cati Stanko and Emilio Vega Barrio won the Qualifying Round with a time of 18.24 seconds on two steers. They earned $1036 plus an advancement into the Shoot Out Round. Second was William Packer and Tucker White. Emilio Vega Barrio from Fort Lupton, Colorado teamed up with Cody Huwy from Roggen, Colorado to win first place in the #12 Shoot Out. The pairing took home $7552, trophy Martin saddles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Tony Holden and Paul Freed with a time of 36.17 seconds on four steers. They won $5564 plus $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Third place went to Barrie and Brad Smith from Stephenville, Texas. Brian Tidyman and Junior Myers teamed up to win the #12 Gold Plus. The team was 33.27 seconds on four steers and won $9316, Resistol hats, Tony Lama Boots and Cinch Jeans. Second was Mike Robson and Gary Rodarmel with a time of 34.54 seconds on four steers. Third place was Gene Holm and DJ Tidyman. Brian and Junior also won the incentive average and took home an additional $4642, Classic Equine Horse blankets, Classic Rope bags, Classic Equine Hay bags and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Willy Hicks and Cody Larsen won the #11 Preliminary with a time of 30.39 seconds on four steers. They won $4262, trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers and $8000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second was Kyle Dailey and Seth Hasemann with a time of 32.28 seconds on four steers. Third went to Casey Flynn and Doug Finney. Ron Baucke and Ty Baucke won the incentive average. Emilio Vega Barrio from Fort Lupton, Colorado and Cody Huwa from Roggen, Colorado won the #11 Shoot Out. They took home $8708, trophy Martin saddles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Barrie Smith and Kyle Taylor as they won $6530 plus $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Third was Smith and Clancey Kreutzer with a time of 33.92 seconds. The wins put Smith in the lead for the Cruel Girl race and the High Point Gold Plus Roper of the weekend. In the #10 Preliminary the win went to Jerry Kraft and Chance Merrill. The team won $5102, trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers and $8000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Mary Myers and Alan Jones with a time of 39.37 seconds. Third place wash Terrell Vineyard and Cord Haythorn both from Nebraska. Dusty Dugan and Steve Taylor won the incentive average. Brian Tidyman and Wyatt Clark won the #10 Shoot Out with a time of 37.06 seconds on four steers. The win gave them $8996, trophy Martin saddles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Chace Elkington and Clay Elkington from Idaho. Third place went to the team of Barbara McBride and Kyle Murdoch. The final day of the High Plains Regional Finals began with the #10 Gold Plus. Brad ONeal from Salida, Colorado and Spike Meyring from Steamboat Springs, Colorado won the average by catching four steers in 36.26 seconds. They won $8764, Resistol Hats, Tony Lama Boots, Cinch Jeans and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Jerry Palm and Chace Elkington with a time of 36.36 seconds on four steers. Third place went to Tom Palmer and Gilbert Lucero. Palm and Elkington also won the incentive average and took home an additional $3940, Classic Equine horse blankets, Classic Rope bags, Classic Equine hay bags and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Willy Hicks from Mullen, Nebraska and Jeff Blass from Carpenter, Wyoming teamed up to win first place in the #9 Preliminary. They were 40.55 seconds on four steers and won $4550, trophy Ritchie ColdSaver Coolers and $8000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Partick Chester and Clay Elkington as they earned $3034 plus $8000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Third place went to Chace Elkington and Clay Elkington. Jose Olivas and Ricardo Ruiz won the incentive average. The final roping was the #9 Shoot Out. Tom Myers from Salida, Colorado and Gilbert, Lucero from Pueblo, Colorado teamed up to win first place in the average. They were 36.87 seconds on four steers and took home $8566, trophy Martin saddles and $6000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Jessica Amicarella and Gerald Watson with a 41.00 on four steers. Third place was the team of Don Dechant and Joe Stricklin. As the dust settled in Loveland, Colorado the points and money was figured. Barrie Smith from Stephenville, Texas was the high money Cruel Girl roper of the weekend. She was also the high point Gold Plus roper of the weekend. Emilio Vega Barrio from Fort Lupton, Colorado and Cody Huwa from Roggen, Colorado won the #11 Shoot Out.
