4 The Wrangler, Annual Breeders Edition • January 5-19, 2018 A Smooth Guy, Myers Family's up and coming son of Frenchmans Guy, injured his leg beyond repair while playing in his paddock after arriving at Royal Vista Ranches in Oklahoma and was laid to rest. The 2005 son of the leading living Barrel Racing sire, Frenchmans Guy, was out of the producing Dry Doc/Jet Smooth mare, Docs Movida. Docs Movida produced barrel futurity money earners Frenchmans Dry Lady and Guys Smooth Jetta, both full siblings to A Smooth Guy. He was born and raised on the Myers Ranch where they knew he was special from the time he was born. He would later pass that "special" quality onto his offspring. He was a striking buckskin stud colt from birth and developed into not only a barrel horse as his breeding suggested but a great team roping horse who was a high level heading and heeling horse. As a sire, his first colt to the arena, Ima Smooth Kidder was a futurity money winner and was soon followed by the phenom, Smooth N Famous, who was a multiple futurity, derby and rodeo winner of $170k+. They were followed by Parker-Wood Memorial Futurity Champion, Ima Friendly Guy and many others. He was also a true all around performance sire, siring UX Smooth Talkin Doc who has won 4 Pole Bending Futurities in 2017. Also, A Smooth Guy colts are quickly becoming top calf roping, team roping and ranch horses. According to the latest Equistat sire report, A Smooth Guy had sired 31 barrel racing performers with $278,229 of earnings and an average of $8975 per colt. Here is the statement from the Myers family about A Smooth Guy's passing from his Facebook page: "It is with heavy hearts and the deepest sadness, our family must share that A Smooth Guy was laid to rest. Smoothie suffered an injury to his leg while playing in his paddock. After consulting with several vets, it was agreed that the damage could not be repaired. We thank Royal Vista Equine (Laura, Milt, A Smooth Guy - 2005-2017 Vaughn & Jill) both business associates and friends who have gone above and beyond in helping us get thru this tragedy. Those of you who know us well, know what our horses mean to us. We feel so Blessed to have had Smoothie in our lives." Our thoughts and prayers are with all the Myers family as they come to grips with the untimely loss of Smoothie…Rest In Peace Smoothie.
