a first-time national qualifier. His success is a testament to the support and encouragement he has received. Hoyt competes in team roping, goat tying, breakaway, and light rifle. He heads to Des Moines first in the team, roping, heading for partner Cruz Viles of Cody, and 3rd in the breakaway. "Getting this first qualification makes me excited that all my practice has paid off. I plan to keep roping and rope with my partner before nationals." Oaklee Hoffman calls Lonetree, Wyoming, home, which is located on the Utah border. This 13-year-old cowgirl competes in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, team roping, and ribbon roping. That makes this cowgirl an all-around hand. Going into state, Oaklee said, "I wanted to make it in barrels and poles; that was my main goal. I also wanted to make it in goats but wasn't sitting well. But I did end up making it in goats." Oaklee qualified in the barrels, poles, and goats. She is the Wyoming Jr. High Rodeo champion in the barrels & poles; and she split 3rd & 4th in the goat tying with Morgan Sheehan of Rozet, Wyoming. Her horse, Cruella, is a quarter pony, and her barrel horse is Special Fame. This is her second national qualification. She would like to thank her mom & dad and her grandparents for their support. Tye Westbrook of Casper, Wyoming, is going into the 8th grade. She competes in barrel racing, breakaway, team roping, & ribbon roping. Her plan to go into was to have solid, clean runs, catch all her calves, and turn good steers for her partner. This marks her 3rd national qualification, and we will see this little dynamite competing in barrels & breakaway roping. "Being positive, not looking down on myself, being humble, and just taking care of horses and making sure they are good," is what Tye credits to her success in the arena. Aint I A Punk, AKA "Punk" is her barrel horse, and they are a dynamic duo. Tonys Big Shot, AKA "Miss Kitty," is her rope horse. Tye wants to thank her parents, Chad & Mandi Westbrook, her grandparents, and her best friend for their support. Tess Jaure is an 8th grader who qualified for nationals in the ribbon roping, breakaway roping, and goat tying. Dan & LS are her horses. She finished 2nd in all her state events. "Make clean runs and complete the course." She said with a big smile about her game plan for the state. This is her 3rd qualification to head to Junior High National Finals.
