"In the six and under classes, the $100,000 sale graduate payback is split $25,000 in the barrel racing futurity, $25,000 in the derby, $25,000 in the calf roping and $25,000 in the team roping," Zancanella said. "Those colts have a chance to come compete three years or so for that money as well." August 9 in Rock Springs, Wyoming the Royal Crown Horse Sale will be held in conjunction with Royal Crown Rock Springs. The eleven-day event begins on Tuesday, August 6 with the barrel racing. Roping events run from Tuesday, August 13 to Friday August 16. The horse sale begins with a preview and dinner on Thursday, August 8, and the sale is Friday evening at 6 pm. "As of right now, we're looking at around 40 to 45, so we are growing our numbers. The biggest thing is I see is better quality colts coming to our sale," Zancanella said. Additionally, the Royal Crown comes with no nomination fees. If a horse is sired by a current Royal Crown stallion, horse owners only must enter.
